in theory “ship and let ship” is such a good concept, because it would open up avenues for crackships and rarepairs and give room for lgbt fans & fans of color to make content for and fully appreciate the characters involved, but in practice it’s so fucking bad. lgbt fans & fans of color (& especially the intersection between the two) are often ignored or attacked so that people can promote pedophilia, incest, abuse - a lot of it founded on outright racism and homophobia.
and thats so tragic? imagine if fandom actually gave two shits about every person in it (like they claim to!)
imagine if we had soft, healthy rarepairs all over the place instead of abuse dominating every single corner of most fandoms.
imagine if you could scroll through a tag without seeing something nasty, and instead see a ship that hey, maybe it’s not your type, but its wholesome and warm and the fans love the individual characters so, so much.
imagine if this “ship and let ship” nonsense was actually applied to good things for once in this damn timeline.
