nothing you ever read, watch, or participate in will be ideologically pure and without its problems. your quest to consume the most unproblematic material will be, in the end, fruitless. your enjoyment of anything will be sapped away, leaving you a husk starved for media.

Alright but listen…. there are degrees and nuances here. You can’t write off some really fucked up shit as just a problematic fav. Some things are too based in racism/misogyny/transmisogyny/ableism etc. Don’t think that just because you acknowledge the problematic aspects of something means that you’re now absolved from all responsibility. I mean I know this is obvious to many people but I'be encountered a lot of contrary evidence so I just want to make sure it’s clear.

Exactly. Speaking with your dollar has its limits, sure, I’ll give the OP that. But this seems like the epitomy of slacktivism. Do nothing but whine about a show being racist or misogynistic, don’t even stop watching it lmao. There’s a line to be drawn, nothing can be perfect, but simply criticizing the media you consume shouldn’t be seen as a green light to consuming anything and everything.
