I feel like when people on here say they enjoy problematic media whilst criticising it, it sometimes comes off as an excuse. Not always, of course, but I just get this vibe - “yeah yeah this tv show treats minorities badly but because I acknowledged that aspect one (1) time, it’s okay to enjoy now”

I’m not saying write *essays* on it, but actual criticism should aim to raise awareness and in some cases prompt the creators to change. It shouldn’t be a one-time cop-out for you.

just some thoughts and like context is important shows airing in 2017 need to be held to higher standards than ended 90s shows and obviously it's fine to say 'fuck it i just want to watch a movie' but don't claim to be critical of media if that's just an excuse and then there's different types of 'problematic' I hate that word btw like a TV show continuously portraying POC negatively and demonising them should NOT be on air but if a show says something iffy or plays into sexist tropes every now and then that should be criticised but it's not something to necessarily demand cancellation over bucky says things cool to rb
