What people say: Fandom isn’t a safe space, blacklist things you don’t like & move on

What people mean: I think my ‘right’ to ship abusive pairings is more important than survivors’ feelings regarding me romanticizing their trauma. I also think fandom is a safe space in the respect that it should allow me to talk about how ~hot~ I find abusive/etc. themes without being called out, but if a survivor has a problem with this they just need to ignore it and pretend it doesn’t exist. 

Don’t use me for your agenda. Seriously.

I mean shippers use survivors for their agendas all the time (“abusive ships are okay because survivors ship them”) plus I’m, yknow, an abuse survivor too and this was me talking abt things that have been said to me. not trying to ‘use’ anyone, only stating what shippers say in a paraphrased way.

Sorry you have to see content that I don’t really see either.

I don’t see what other abuse survivors see because, but I get annoyed a bit when they want to cut down on the content that I can relate to.

I just wanna clarify that I’m all for bad things like abuse being portrayed in fandoms, that’s certainly important and in fact I write to cope myself, but it’s when these things are shown in a way that’s a) meant to seem cute or b) to be sexually appealing to the reader, and where it’s treated as trivial, that’s what my issue is
